The great unknown(s)

When I visit the blog, a list of contributors appears along the right-hand margin.  I've just noticed that some four or five of them are now listed as "Unknown".  Are those folks whose names used to appear whose profiles have died?  Or what are they?  Does anyone know?

  1. I may be one of the unknowns, Jim. I used to sign in with my Google Plus until it went to minus a ways back.

    1. How were you able to sign in after the Google Plus disappeared? The "unknowns" should be able to use the same process.

    2. I registered anew through blogspot.

  2. The unknowns are users who had Google Plus profiles, and they became "unknown" when Google discontinued Google Plus. They are Jim McCrea, Rachel Ouellette, Mark Logsdon, and Bernard Dauenhauer. I confess to not understanding why they were lost, and if anyone know how to get them back, please let me know.

  3. I believe that I am also one of the "unknowns".
When Google+ ended, I had a very hard time being able to sign in on this board. I am still not able to do it "right" and have a work-around that may disappear at some point.

David worked with me as I created new gmail addresses to use to log on - he approved them. But, after working for a while, they stopped. I think we went through the loop at least 4 times. I cleaned caches, history, reloaded browsers etc. Right now I can only log in using a dedicated gmail account using chrome. The same email does not work when using Firefox. I use Firefox to comment (and am terrified it will stop working) and chrome to post. I can't comment on Chrome, can't post on Firefox and use two different gmails (all invented new just for New Gathering) to do this.

I STILL don't know why I have had so much trouble - apparently Stanley and others got back on pretty easily with blogspot, but I didn't. I think Jim McCrea comments occasionally as Jimmy Mac, but perhaps he can't sign in to post.

  4. I happen to have two gmail addresses, one which I created for blogger and another which is provided me by my local community college which uses gmail.

Any time I sign into the student account from a computer, blogger does not recognize me. If I go to google and press the gmail in the upper right corner it gives me two choices. When I pick the blogger e-mail I can go into the posting area of blogger.

  5. I had to create a new Google account to get into Blogger. My "primary" GMail, which hardly anyone uses, gets mail (when it feels like it, and not a moment sooner), but it makes me use my "other" account to blog.

  6. I have never posted one article since this site started. No need to re-establish the same non-participation.

Of course, I shoot off my mouth regularly in the comments!

    Yes, I am Jim McCrea
