Fifth Sunday of Easter at Ascension...
Our Pastor, Dan Kearney and Deacon, Nelson Falcon....
I am assuming the technicians are eighth graders from Ascension School!
29 minutes, 8 seconds.... unusually short without the usual rambunctious crowd.
Amen!
Seems like a lot of parishes are figuring out how to live-stream or pre-record Masses. It makes people feel more connected than watching the diocese Mass for shut-ins or one on EWTN. You have a lovely church.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are doing okay sheltering in place. Scary news headlines coming out of New York.
Ours was 1 hour, 3 minutes and 48 seconds. Father George, who concelebrated, hit the Lazarus homily with enthusiasm, and then the Communion hymn, "My God, That Is Who You Are," ran its full course through reception (concelebrating pastor, deacon, two acolytes, two musicians and lector), kept going for another verse, went pianissimo during a meditation by the pastor, and then picked up for a final verse and chorus.
ReplyDeleteQuite a crowd! Did they keep their 6 feet apart? Or that's not necessary in Florida? Except if you just came from NY.
DeleteNo, but they never got as close as the cheering section that stands behind POTUS each afternoon. The two priests and the deacon were pretty close for most of the Mass. We do social distance in Florida. And keep New Yorkers out. Someone finally set up road blocks to screen everybody driving into the state. You can still breeze in without being quarantined on your private jet. If you have one.
DeleteHow about gliders? Would that work?
DeleteThanks. I really needed that. My parish broadcasts Mass on local cable access but my connection to that is kaput at the moment.
ReplyDeleteOn Sunday, we ended up watching Cardinal Cupich's broadcast mass from the cathedral again, because it's easily accessible (on one of the major network channels), brief (a half hour) and the music and preaching are decent.
ReplyDeleteLater, I watched the recording of our parish's mass. It wasn't as brief, but it had all the benefits of familiarity. It's my community, even when the community can't gather for it.
BTW, did all of you see the list of Jesuit parishes/colleges streaming daily mass?
