Can't comment on threads after sign in

When I hit sign-in, it takes me to the normal page. I can create a new post. But I can't comment on old posts.

When I click "view" on a thread (Jim's thread on Resurrection"), it doesn't show me as signed in and I can't comment on any posts, including this one.  So I am editing my own post to ask for help!

  1. Anne, I'm definitely seeing your post here - but I'm worried that you won't see my response here. I wish I had your email address!

My first guess about your technical issue is that it's a browser issue. Perhaps try a different browser, or look to update the version of the browser you use.

  2. Jim, I am now using my iPad. I'm still signed in on this device, which I took with me to Australia and signed in once for a short comment on April 11 on the use of tax money for religious schools. On my computer I have tried both Firefox and chrome. I can sign in to post, but when I view other people's posts it does not show me as signed in and I can't comment. I cleared history and the cache and even tried the private window, but same problem. I had shut down the computer completely for more than 3 weeks and the problem occurred after I restarted it. But I usually shut down the computer every night anyway. I googled the problem and several people wrote on a board that they couldn't sign in after April 2. Is that when google+ went away? I had that to see pix of grandkids but didn't use it for anything else.

The proposed solutions and work arounds haven't worked for me.

  3. I find it strange hat I can sign in to post, but the signing info on the top right disappears when I view a thread and I can't comment- on my computer but not on the iPad.

  4. I have noticed some glitches myself lately, and I don't know if they are caused by our system or if there is something going on with Blogger. I can't form links in comments that work using html code anymore. I also have trouble copying blocks of text on the "compose" page. Doesn't seem to matter if I am using our pc or my tablet.

  5. I know I was logged in with Google Plus but then Google+ dropped the service. I then had to log in with blogger.

  7. Weird. But I am totally incompetent to help.

  8. As administrator of the site, I must confess that I haven't a clue what the problem is, so I can only encourage anyone who hasn't weighed in to do so if they have any ideas that may be helpful.

The four contributors now listed as "unknown" in the Contributors listing are people who had Google+ accounts. Google+ has been discontinued by Google, but the Gmail addresses (to the best of my knowledge) are still valid. If any of the four needs a new invitation to get back on the list, let me know.

    1. David, I already took care of this. I am back on the list, as you can see.

  9. I comment from the public rather than the admin side of the blog. I have had no problem. No idea if this is involved in Anne's problem, though.
