All Trumplethinskin has to do is order Rosenstein to fire Mueller. If R doesn't do it, T can and most likely will fire R. Then who is left to do T's bidding, except, of course, all of the suckups in the cabinet. That clown show yesterday was a disgrace along with being a likely template for SNL very soon. Only Mattis showed any modicum of objective leadership.
If Trump fires either Mueller or Rosenstein, or both, it's more or less an admission of guilt. At first I didn't want impeachment, because we'd just get Pence, who isn't all that great. But I'm beginning to think, anybody but Trump. It's going to have to start with the Repubs, if there's any left with a conscience. When Trump's shenanigans start affecting them is when some of them will decide he's too much of a liability to let it go on four years.
I'm watching the senate testimony of Sessions right now. So far he;s quite defiant. It's interesting how these Trump minions act at these congressional committees - Coats and Rogers refused to answer when they were asked of Trump asked them to end the Russian investigations. Sessions is also not answering questions about his conversations with Trump. But legally they have offered no legal basis for why ... not executive privilege, not classification. Wonder if they can be held in contempt.
I don't know, but some senator (Burr?) Noted that Eric Holder refused to answer questions claiming that any communication he had with the prez could be withheld to uphold exec privilege.
But Trump hasn't evoked executive privilege. He hasn't because it will make him look like he's trying to hide something. This way Trump can have the benefits of EP without looking guilty. It's cheating. I think if the senate had issued subpoenas then they could have held those who didn't answer in contempt.
The GOP will turn a blind eye as long as Trump supports their deregulation efforts and the dismantling of all the "socialist" programs Obama set up.
The press, meantime, is chasing the wrong stories; it's all about trying to ferret out wrong-doing instead of explaining how the repeal of some of Dodd-Frank will affect regular people, how Obamacare needs to be fixed, and the fact that more people work at Arby's than in coal mines. Or, when those stories are covered, they're buried under the latest tweet-storm report.
Defnitely correct about missing what is happening on the main stage (the demise of Dodd-Frank, such as it is) while the Trump-created diversion from the Soviet meddling investigation is going on at the kiddies' stage.

DeleteBtw, what's Robert Bork doing these days?
ReplyDeleteBork has been dead for five years. Or maybe that was rhetorical?
